Penticton Vees goaltender Will Ingemann and Surrey Eagles forwards Aaron Schwartz and Caden Cranston have been named the FortisBC 3 Stars of the Month.
1st Star – Will Ingemann (G) – Penticton Vees
Ingemann was unbeatable in the month of February, posting a shutout in all four of his games, stopping all 66 shots he faced.
The University of St. Thomas commit blanked the Merritt Centennials on the road to start his month with a 4-0 road win. He went on to shutout the Prince George Spruce Kings, West Kelowna Warriors and most recently the Cranbrook Bucks to extend his shutout streak to 249:43, which is just 42 seconds away from tying the league’s regular-season record and 2:34 away from the overall BCHL record.
Ingemann has let in more than one goal on just one occasion since Jan. 5, a stretch of seven games.
His 1.75 goals-against average leads the BCHL, while his .925 save percentage is second best. The 18-year-old also leads the league with six shutouts, just one back of tying the BCHL record.
2nd Star – Aaron Schwartz (F) – Surrey Eagles
Schwartz led all BCHL players with 16 points in nine February games on a league-high eight goals and eight assists.
He had points in six of nine contests during the month, but when he got on the score sheet, he was all over it, registering multiple points on four separate occasions, including a career-high six-point outing.
That milestone game came in the Eagles final game of the month against the Victoria Grizzlies where the Quinnipiac University commit potted two goals and added four helpers in a 10-3 victory.
Schwartz also put up a four-point effort on two goals and two assists in Surrey’s 4-0 win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Feb. 2.
The 19-year-old is the BCHL’s second-leading scorer with 61 points in 41 games, tied for the fourth-leading goal scorer with 24 and owns the third most assists with 37.
3rd Star – Caden Cranston (F) – Surrey Eagles
Cranston was the second-highest point producer last month with 15 points in nine contests. His 12 assists in February were the most in the league.
The Rochester, N.Y. product had a point in seven of nine games during the month, including five multi-point efforts.
He bookended February with a three-assist game against the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Feb. 2 and a four-point afternoon in a Feb. 25 matchup against the Victoria Grizzlies where he registered a goal and three helpers.
Cranston is the BCHL’s leading scorer so far this year with 68 points in 41 games. His 43 assists are the most in the league, while his 25 goals put him in third spot in the list.
